114. Play

ROOM INFO
Urban views. “The things that we say change us. We change the things that we see. Things get mixed up. Shapes change… Our thoughts about what we have seen are not fixed: we play with them constantly.” In designing his room, Bus concentrated on doing what he says he always does: “Making people understand that we can’t understand anything. That means, in this space for example, that the process of drawing has a random beginning and a random end – in between is unknown territory. Once you let go of form and yourself then everything is free.”
ARTIST INFO

121. Sleep Seasons
ROOM INFO
Safe comfort. Each of Rinzen’s rooms has its own concept: “The Sleep Season room was inspired by the desire to hibernate (really!). It creates a cosy nook filled with animals sleeping through the seasons of the year. As the year passes, the animals sleep, blissfully unaware of their surroundings. Out to sea, gigantic whales bask on summer waves and the autumn winds play havoc with hedgehogs and owls.”

Let the gentle ambience of this sacred forest be your guide, as you slip into your true selve. You may never want to leave.”

304. Self-confidence

ROOM INFO
Form and function. E-Types are also conscious of their pedagogic duties and hope that a stay in their rooms will make their guests think and reflect upon the different issues embedded in the design: “Every day, we are bombarded with around 10,000 written messages in newspapers, on billboards and on the computer screen. Very few people are aware of the massive quantity of typographies they are exposed to each day, and how important the font is in making the message come across in a situation of information overload.”
ARTIST INFO

This dynamic energy is also reflected in WK interact’s commissioned work for the likes of Adidas, BMW, Yamaha and Burton.

316. Racing Cars/ Corrida de Carros
ROOM INFO
Kids and cars. The Brazilian fashion designer Baixo Ribeiro helped Speto with the soft furnishings for his room, but did all the wall-spraying and drawing himself. Although he calls himself a “big child” and says his art is “naïve and innocent”, there is an acute sense of history, politics and the art of survival in his work. “I have always played with cars and I still collect them. Men have always been fascinated by cars: here, the hotrods of the fifties were my inspiration. This room is the most childish.”

Speto – Brazil: Speto was born and raised in São Paulo. His creative background is one of urban art and graffiti but his illustrations also have a “woodcut” feel, showing variations on distinctive South American folklore motifs. 412. Spring Grove
ROOM INFO
Called „Spring Grove“, the room is designed to evoke spring fever: It is playful, exotic and enticing, setting the stage for a flowery and paradisiac place for lovers and young hearts. The objective of the contest was to find the best young talent to create room 412 at the Hotel FOX. Her work is highly sensual and highlights her passion and desire for exotic colours, floating shapes and counts as a very fresh, new definition of romanticism. Inspired by emotions, Anke develped a room concept that is elegant and soothing, luring the guest into a post-natural refuge within a vibrant and busy city, thrusting aside the visual and accoustic noises of a metropolis.
